The Second Wave of Psychotherapy Integration: 

Consolidating and Unifying Knowledge and Practice

Most traditional approaches to psychotherapy integration combine components of distinct therapeutic models, using either a structured or eclectic approach. However, in the past decade, new approaches to integration have emerged that emphasize unification and consolidation of existing practices. 

In this workshop, you will learn about the second wave of psychotherapy integration and its implications for your future practice.

Program Goal and Objectives

Program Overarching Goal: By the end of this program, participants will be able to understand the future of psychotherapy integration.

Specific Learning Objectives:

At the end of this training, participants will be able to

1. Identify at least 3 forms of traditional integration in psychotherapy.
2. Distinguished between first- and second-wave integration models.  
3. Identify at least 3 characteristics of second-wave integration models and their implications for practice.

CE Approval: This course has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education by the NBCC. Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences

Therapy that Works Institute programs are offered for NBCC credit (NBCC ACEP No. 7125). 

Therapy that Works Institute (Provider #1000141) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs.

Therapy that Works Institute maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

Course CE certificates will be awarded via email within 24 hours upon completion of all course modules, course quiz, and course evaluation. 

Audience: This course is intended for both new and experience master's level clinicians, including counselors, family therapists, and social workers.

Cost: CEs are FREE for the first month. Afterward, you must purchase the course for $49.

Refund/Cancellation Policy: Enrollees can cancel their enrollment at any time by emailing [email protected]. Enrollees who do not complete their entire course and download their certificate by the end of the discount period will need to purchase the course for $49 to extend their enrollment.

Dr. Diane Gehart is the Director of the Therapy that Works Institute and Professor Emerita in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at California State University, Northridge.
